Bat removal for Fountain, where a still new statewide bat disease may push more colonies toward the town's oldest surviving brick buildings.
Call (844) 924-1337Some of Fountain's oldest brick buildings went up in the rebuild that followed the town's documented 1888 depot disaster, and those structures, along with others added through the growth that followed 1903 incorporation, offer the kind of aging rooflines and wall gaps a displaced bat colony looks for when searching out a new roost. What's pushing more colonies to relocate in the first place is recent: white nose syndrome did not exist anywhere in Colorado until 2023, when a Yuma bat near La Junta became the state's first confirmed case.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife now considers more than a dozen of the state's native bat species vulnerable to that disease as it spreads, which means a bat call at an older Fountain building may increasingly trace back to this new displacement pressure rather than to any roosting habit the colony has held for years. Bat removal from an attic is typically handled through exclusion: sealing off other potential entry points, installing one-way devices at the main entry so bats can leave to feed but can't get back in, then sealing that opening once the roost is confirmed empty. Bat exclusion calls for a professional assessment of the species, roost, and appropriate timing; do not attempt to seal an occupied roost yourself.
The same exclusion approach used for attics applies to bats roosting elsewhere in a house, soffits, eaves, chimneys, or wall voids. An exclusion assessment should identify active openings and consider the roost before any entry points are closed.
Coverage varies by policy and provider, and many policies treat wildlife exclusion differently than damage repair. Check directly with your insurance provider about what your specific policy covers before assuming either way.
Bat removal pricing depends on your location, the extent of the roost, access conditions, and the exclusion work required. Call PestGuardians to discuss the work needed in Fountain and request pricing for your situation.
