Snake removal near Thornton's outer edges, where newer development meets open ground prairie rattlesnakes favor.
Call (844) 924-1337The prairie rattlesnake is the snake a Colorado homeowner is most likely to encounter, and a good share of its population sticks to open, rangeland style terrain, exactly what sits along Thornton's growing edges. Subdivisions built since the city's 1956 incorporation have pushed outward onto ground that once served as rangeland, not unlike the Eppinger family farm the city grew from.
Cooler spring and fall days send that snake looking for a sun warmed driveway near those developing edges. Bites remain fairly rare across Colorado even where rattlesnake populations are well documented, but a sighting near a Thornton property bordering open ground deserves to be taken seriously. Keep a safe distance and avoid trying to catch or corner it yourself, especially if you're not sure of the species. Describe the sighting to PestGuardians; identification and an assessment of possible entry gaps can help determine the next step.
If it's a one-time sighting and the snake moves on its own, that's often the end of it. A snake that repeatedly appears in one area, or whose species is uncertain, warrants professional assessment; do not try to capture or relocate it yourself.
For a snake in or around your home, describe the sighting from a distance and discuss the identification and access concerns before removal is planned. Call PestGuardians to discuss your pest concern and check local service availability.
